The SWOT Analysis is easy to use and concise. Of course internal - and external analysis is required to fill in the four quadrants properly.
I recommend you to fill in the SWOT Analysis with your Executive Team. Both the results and the shared process to determine the results are important.

What opportunies arise from external developments?
What are we not good at? What skills does our company lack? What needs improvement?
What threats arise from external developments? What makes us run out of business if we do not respond?
